Sorrento

Our first stop on the voyage will be Sorrento, a jewel of a town perched atop the cliffs of the Bay of Naples. We will have a full day ashore, and you'll want to savor every minute of your time here. Breathtaking views, lovely gardens and charming piazzas make falling in love with this town exceedingly easy. You may choose to stroll the streets and take in the crystal waters of the Mediterranean while savoring a gelato or sipping a glass of wine. Or if you'd rather, there will be three fabulous excursions Pompeii, Herculaneum, or the Isle of Capri.

When Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, it engulfed the two flourishing Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Remarkably well preserved, Pompeii offers a unique window into ancient lives. Nearby Herculaneum was an upscale holiday resort, and though smaller, is more well preserved and perhaps even more spectacular.

Boats will also be available to take you to the Isle of Capri. Known as "The Jewel of the Bay of Naples", Capri is home to the ethereal Blue Grotto, and the three "sea giants" Faraglioni, rock formations that Odysseus may have mistaken for Titans on his long journey home.

We will close out the day with a gala at the incomparable Terrazza delle Sirene. We'll be joined by a virtuosic group of local musicians who will collaborate with our own stellar group of entertainers.
