The best way we can think of to get re-accustomed to travel is by getting into the spirit—the Aloha Spirit. The spirit of the islands reflects our collective Castles & Concerts values, and so we wish to rejuvenate and reconnect with you in Hawaii with Aloha everywhere.

We will all get our collective (and literal) feet wet again by gathering at the unparalleled Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. When it opened in 1966, it was hailed as one of the three greatest hotels in the world and one of the top 10 greatest buildings in the world. And, being on the dry side of the Big Island, we are thrilled to spend almost all of our time together outside!
Aloha: Love, especially the kind that encompasses the warmth, connection, and openness that all special relationships bring.

Our Program

The theme of this trip is Reconnection, Recreation, Recovery and Adventure, surrounded by excellent music as is our Castles & Concerts style.

We will kick off our program on the evening of Friday, May 28, with our Welcome Cocktail Party, followed by dinner and a show.

Then, every day we will split into smaller groups for our daily activities/adventures. The Mauna Kea Beach Resort is so amazing that we want to make sure that we take advantage of everything it has to offer. So, we are designing a program to not only give you plenty of time to enjoy the resort, but to also get you out into the beautiful natural surroundings, introduce you to the local food and culture, and most importantly give you time to spend with your Castles & Concerts friends.

Depending on your group’s schedule, you may meet for a guided tour of the world-renowned art collection; get on a boat to snorkel at the historic Kealakekua Bay; visit the Waipio Valley by 4x4 or, maybe, you just want to read your book while sitting on the beach.

We know there are many wonderful activities in and around the resort, as well as farther afield on the Big Island, so please remember that nothing on our trip is compulsory. Do as much or as little as you like. If there is something you would like to do on the Big Island that is not already on our schedule, we can connect you with the best people to make it happen. Just let us know. We’re here to help!

Of course, every evening we will gather together for dinner and a show with some of your favorite Castles & Concerts entertainers, as well as some of the best local talent on the island.

Kanikapila: Music jam session especially family style--with warmth and sponteneity.

Our Home

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a special place, so we wanted to say a little bit more about it. Now recognized as a member of the “Historic Hotels of America”, the hotel went through a $150 million renovation that preserved its original charm and character, while bringing it into the 21st Century.

Originally developed by Laurance Rockefeller in the early days of Hawaii’s statehood, the multi- award winning Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was designed to conform to (and not intrude upon) the beautiful natural surroundings. Rockefeller envisioned the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel as a private estate, offering a cross-cultural resort experience, emphasizing the Pacific Rim and providing a peaceful environment to explore personal growth and spirituality.

To achieve this vision, he entrusted a team of experts to acquire unique and beautiful pieces of art from Asia and the Pacific. He worked with architects and designers to create specifically designed display areas to enhance the works of art. Seemingly every hallway and corner is graced with something special from this priceless collection of hundreds and hundreds museum-quality pieces.

As a child growing up on O’ahu, Chip‘s family would travel to the other islands on long weekends. The first time Chip stayed there he was 5 years old! We know that many of you have fond memories with friends and family at this special place. Let’s go together and make some more....

Ohana: Hawai’ian style-includes everyone who feels like family.

Details

Arrival/Departure in Kona: Most of us will fly into Kona (KOA) in time for the first event in the evening on Friday, May 28 and leave from Kona (KOA) on Friday, June 4.

What’s Included: All meals with the group are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner. As is our custom, we build in specific times that meals are “on your own” in order to give you the opportunity to dine at one of the many wonderful, smaller restaurants that could not accommodate our whole group. All of our group activities and excursions are included. Furthermore, we have prepaid generous gratuities to all of our tour operators, wait staff and hotel/hospitality staff. As always, though, the most important inclusion is the pleasure of being with great folks in beautiful surroundings full of music, fellowship, nature and culture.

Costs/Upgrades: The cost of the trip is $6,750 per person, double occupancy, in a superior room. There are room upgrades available. Please let us know if you are interested in an Ocean View.
